A digital companion for Ginninderry, the sustainable residential development on the ACT–NSW border. What began as a guide to the display village has grown into a community platform — events, services, walking tracks and audio guides in one coherent app.

Ginninderry is a sustainable community growing on the ACT–NSW border, and Explore Ginninderry is its companion app — a friendly guide to what’s on, what’s nearby, and the beautiful landscape on the doorstep.

What it does

• Hit the trails — walking track guides with audio stories to keep you company along the way.
• See what’s on — events and points of interest, drawn straight from the Ginninderry website so nothing needs entering twice.
• Get things done — bin collection info, Fix My Street reporting and bus timetables, one tap away.

Behind the app

We built Explore Ginninderry with design agency Supercurious for Riverview Projects, launching in 2018 as a digital companion for visitors to Ginninderry’s showcase homes and their environmentally friendly design features.

Communities change, and good apps change with them. As Ginninderry matured, the app evolved from display-village companion into a broader community tool for residents, prospective residents and visitors — a shift the app’s architecture was designed to absorb.

That architecture picks the right integration model for each job. Events and points of interest come into the app natively through the website’s WordPress APIs. Services the website already does well — bin collections, Fix My Street, bus timetables — are linked simply and practically rather than rebuilt. And content that belongs to the app itself, like walking tracks and audio guides, lives in the Contentful headless CMS, so the Ginninderry team can update it any time without touching the app.

The result is an app that sits alongside an organisation’s website and digital services rather than duplicating them — simple for the community, maintainable for the team behind it.
