Hello, we’re Stripy Sock

We’re an Australian digital product studio that does one thing and does it properly: native mobile apps, designed and built by hand.

Our work spans government, community, education and private-sector projects — long-term supported government apps, community engagement platforms, location-aware apps, and content and event platforms. What ties it together is a focus on solving real problems for the people using the app, while fitting neatly into the systems, websites and platforms an organisation already has.

How we work

Native, always. We build iOS apps in Swift and SwiftUI, and Android apps in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. It’s more care up front, and it shows: apps that follow each platform’s conventions, work beautifully across screen sizes, and take full advantage of accessibility features like Dynamic Type, VoiceOver and TalkBack.

People first. The best insights come from the people who’ll actually use the app. We start projects with discovery — workshops, prototypes, honest questions — so design decisions are grounded in real needs, not assumptions.

The right integration for each job. Some things belong natively in an app; some are better drawn from an existing API; some just need a well-placed link. We’re pragmatic about which is which, so the app stays useful and the systems behind it stay maintainable.

In it for the long haul. We’re still supporting and improving apps we launched over a decade ago. Launch is the beginning, not the end.

Who we are

Adam Cooper — Creative Director. Adam leads design at Stripy Sock, with over a decade of experience creating clear, approachable, human-centred interfaces. He’s also a specialist iOS developer who prototypes rapidly in SwiftUI — so ideas become working software you can hold, early.

Philip Blackwell — Technical Director. Philip provides technical leadership across our projects and encourages a culture of excellence in everything we ship. He has extensive experience building iOS apps, Android apps and the cloud services that support them.

Jake MacMullin — Managing Director. Jake is a senior solution architect with over 15 years’ experience developing native apps for iOS and Android, and a deep understanding of the broader systems that support mobile products — integrations, cloud services and data.
